Digital response to the material and tutorials included in Week 4's lectures with some influence from Week 1's Cult Of The Ugly. I had originally envisioned a mannequin with human-like eyes to represent the uncanny, however this similar image was already available to me on Pexels so I decided to elevate the project and make a motion graphic.

Creating the fake camera-pan effect proved tricky as elements of the face tended to stretch or replicate themselves when displacement was too far either side, so I opted for a faster pan using shallow movement with the greatest displacement happening in the arm socket as I felt its starkly mechanical nature contrasts beautifully with the slightly-too-real eyes.

The first clip also features simulated film grain to bring the footage more in-line with the media I studied surrounding themes of the uncanny, as well as a modern twist in the abrupt glitching as I felt the mannequin's construction was very obviously a modern design.

Over all I wish the piece could have featured heavier displacement as it can be lost amidst the other visual effects I added, however for a quick proof of concept getting the displacement map any more detailed would yield diminishing returns.
